X - Country News

On Saturday, September 26 Athens athletes participated in the 3rd Annual Pancreatic Cancer Research 5K Walk/Run at Coburn Park in Skowhegan.  The ACS runners were:

Natalie Sites, Lucy Perkins, Melody Linkletter, Jillian Michaud, Eli MacMichael, Mrs. Bown (who won 1st Female), Ms. Moulton, and ACS alumni Jack Babin (who won 1st in age group and 2nd overall).

Sixty-three runners competed along with many walkers.  They hope to have raised close to $20,000.  The race was dedicated to Chuck Robbins.

Next month, on November 8, ACS encourages you to participate in or cheer on the Turkey Trot 5K, held at the farm-to-farm course that begins at the bottom of the hill after the Sites Farm.  Registration starts at 1pm and the race begins at 2pm.  There is a $5 registration fee, with proceeds to benefit the Athens Community School.  Medals awarded in 4 categories, including walkers, and all participants are eligible for a random prize drawing.

Box Tops for Education

ACS is collecting “Box Tops” (which can be found on some cereal boxes, granola bar boxes, soup cans, etc.). This is a great way to help earn money for your school.  Please check your packages, cut out the coupon and send it in to the school.  Thanks for your help.
